Lisa O'Kane

In the Year 2002

Nashville, TN November 26, 2002 "WALL OF TEARS" Is Critics Choice For Lisa O'Kane's Third Single From Her Debut CD, AM I TOO BLUE

Alt. Country/Roots sensation Lisa O'Kane has taken the advice of critics and radio programmers and will release her third International single, "Wall of Tears," on the January 1 Country HotDisc. Over 100 tastemakers chose "Wall of Tears," written by K.T. Oslin, as the follow-up to Lisa's chart-topping singles, "Little Black Cloud" and "My Sweet Love Ain't Around."

O'Kane's re-make is "nothing short of sizzling", Country Music News (Canada)

Lisa and producer Ed Tree have made "Wall of Tears" her own, musically and vocally. Bassist Taras Prodanuik (Lucinda Williams) has the fat strings popping, Tree's acoustic and baritone guitar licks hit the track like raindrops on a windowpane and O'Kanes' voice takes listeners on an odyssey in working through the pain. A slapping high-hat and a compelling kick drum keep the tempo pounding and make this the most aggressive record for O'Kane to date. Lisa says, "I am a huge Oslin fan and this was such a great record for her...mine is really different - and I really hope she likes it."

Nashville, TN - Press Release - August 23, 2002 International Sensation Lisa O'Kane
--Sets Release for Second Single September 1

Lisa O'Kane, introduces her second single, "My Sweet Love Ain't Around," to International radio September 1 via the Country HotDisc. O'Kane's vocals run the gamut on this number: clear as a mountain stream and then gritty as a gravel road as she takes this Hank Williams' classic to a whole new level. This is a toe-tappin', sing-a-long number sung to perfection on the traditional side of the tracks.

Lisa says that she chose the tune because it was one of her Mom's favorites. "It was one we knew we had to record, but only if Scottie Joss could play fiddle. We waited four months to record it, 'cause he was so busy on the road with Dwight Yoakam. When we finally got into the studio and laid down the tracks, the first take was just "magic" and that's the one we kept."

O'Kane obviously knows her "magic" and the proof is in the phenomenal radio and chart successes of her debut single. "Little Black Cloud" quickly rose to the #1 spot on the European Top 30 Independent Chart (the official chart of the well-respected UK Magazines, COUNTRY MUSIC ROUNDUP and SOUTHERN COUNTRY) and stayed there for an incredible three weeks. That rainmaker then held the #2 position for four additional weeks and currently holds the #3 position, in this, its eleventh week. This track record is unparalleled in recent chart history.

Terrific reviews and features have followed along with Lisa's radio success. The current issue of Maverick(UK) features O'Kane in a two-page spread and she has since done numerous other print and radio interviews. Lisa is "overwhelmed at the attention" her CD has received to date and she says, "I'm enjoying getting to know so many of the International radio programmers and journalists. Everyone has been so nice and it's great that they are so into the music."

It won't be long before everyone knows the O'Kane name. With airplay on over 600 radio stations and a media frenzy in the making, Lisa O'Kane is the heir apparent to the roots music throne.

European Media Services - July 4, 2002 Lisa O'Kane's single "Little Black Cloud" just charted #1 on the EMS charts after only 4 weeks of airplay. I can tell you that she won by a mile this week and is the first female artist to hit the top since August 2001! Marcus Buck

Nashville, TN - Press Release - July 4, 2002 LISA O'KANE and "Little Black Cloud"
Take A Fast Ride To The Top
Of The European Country Chart

--Lisa O'Kane's debut single, "Little Black Cloud" soars to the #1 spot on the E.M.S. European Country Chart after only four short weeks of airplay. O'Kane won the position "by a mile" and marks the first time a female artist has "hit the top" in almost a year.

This talented Roots newcomer has charmed the industry and fans alike with her easily recognizable voice -- a sweet soprano as clear as a California mountain sky. The #1 single from her AM I TOO BLUE CD has garnered her airplay and recognition "beyond her wildest dreams."

Not only is O'Kane holding court atop the charts, but the press is exalting her as well with a score of top-notch reviews in Country Music People(UK), Svenska Dagbladet(Sweden), Maverick(UK), Country Music Round Up(UK), Country Music News(Canada) and www.Country Review.com(Australia). Roots Newcomer Lisa O'Kane
Breaks Onto The Music Scene

June 1st With A Season of Firsts

Nashville, TN (May 2002) -- Talented newcomer Lisa O'Kane breaks onto the music scene with a season of firsts -- the debut of her first CD, AM I TOO BLUE, the single, "Little Black Cloud" and the launch of her website www.lisaokane.com -- all on June 1.

The single, written by Mark Fosson & Ed Tree, hits the International market via the June 1 Country Hotdisc. Of the song, Lisa says, "Mark Fosson and Ed Tree were lost in Nashville looking for some rehearsal studio. Mark said ÎHey, look at that big black cloud,' and Ed started singing something about a little black cloud. They pulled over, wrote the song, found the studio and a few years later I got to record it. I hope they get lost more often!" O'Kane's savvy soprano vocals make this a great and memorable first record for the up-and-coming star.

AM I TOO BLUE was produced by California-based, Roots legend Edward Tree (Bum Steers). LA's most in-demand musicians -- bassist Taras Prodaniuk (Dwight Yoakam, Lucinda Williams), organist Skip Edwards (Dwight Yoakam) and fiddler Scott Joss (Merle Haggard) -- wrap tight performances around O'Kane's radiant voice. Lisa stretches her pipes on everything from traditional ballads to country rockers. Sparse, uncomplicated and as straightforward as a heartache, the performances on AM I TOO BLUE are as perfect as a clear, California mountain sky. With an impressive, eclectic song selection and O'Kane's masterful vocals, the CD brings you Roots music in its purest and best form. A pre-release review from Country Music People gives the record a rare 5-stars, calling hers "a terrific new voice."

Encouraged by Tree to try her hand at songwriting, O'Kane delivers two worthy cowrites to the project -- "Romance and Finance" and "The Valley" -- yet another "first" for this California songbird. Lisa deftly covers songs by writers as diverse as Lucinda Williams, John Prine and Hank Williams. Singer/songwriter Mark Fosson of the Bum Steers brings impeccable background vocals and a great song to the project, which Pasadena Weekly calls "a promising debut."

June 1 O'Kane marks the official launch of her Website, www.lisaokane.com where fans will find photos of Lisa by Henry Diltz. Diltz is best known for his album-cover photos and his work at the Woodstock and Monterey Pop Festivals. Until International distribution is in place, AM I TOO BLUE can only be purchased from the site.

Lisa O'Kane has been gigging regularly on the West Coast and is hoping to have International tour dates scheduled for this Fall. This fresh face to the Euro music scene is ready for the launch of her recording career: AM I TOO BLUE is her rocket.
