Nashville, TN (May 10, 2004) - Raised on the twang of the Grand Ole Opry, Lisa O'Kane is an enchanting, walking, singing contradiction. She combines the sass of KT Oslin with the wit of Mary Chapin-Carpenter, wraps it all up with a warm touch of Emmylou and receives frequent (and appreciated) comparisons to Nashville favorite, Kathy Chiavola. The multifaceted Roots Diva has taken the Euro market by storm and makes her Nashville debut June 8. O'Kane heads to Music City for CMA MusicFest 2004 - and plans on making the trip worthwhile.
| Lisa will perform with a band at
Billy Block's Western Beat, June 8 at 8 p.m., and June 9 She will lower the volume, playing acoustic sets at Sherlock Holmes Pub, beginning at 8:30 p.m. |
On the brink of the July release of her second CD, PEACE OF MIND, and with three international tours (and several #1 singles) under her belt, O'Kane is no babe in the music biz's woods. A country girl at heart (Fish Camp, California - population 36), O'Kane has for many years called the concrete jungles surrounding L.A. her home. A full-time mom to two daughters, O'Kane manages to make music a daily event in her life. Always on the run, always energized, Lisa is in constant motion. Last week, the lanky honey-blond sang with members of TOTO at a school event, and just two months ago she received a standing ovation from 3000-plus fans in Berlin at the Country Music Messe. A "developing songwriter," Lisa is proud to have several tunes of her own on her upcoming CD.
Since her debut in 2002 with AM I TOO BLUE, O'Kane has charmed Euro journalists and audiences alike. Her upcoming project, produced by Ed Tree (Bum Steers), shows how rapidly Lisa has honed her chops - both vocally and creatively. She heads back overseas for a five-week tour of Switzerland, Germany and the U.K. in August/September. But first, she will try her hand at the Music City ropes. Let's hope she receives a good, old-fashioned southern welcome.
