"Am I Too Blue" - "NEVER" Says LISA O'KANE As She Releases Her Fourth Single May 1
Nashville, TN (Apr 28, 2003) - "I always loved Lucinda Williams' version of the song. I first heard it on her 1988 self-titled album. A few years later I heard her perform it acoustically at the House of Blues. My producer Ed Tree and I were still looking for songs for my CD at the time and it seemed like a perfect fit," says O'Kane.
A perfect fit, indeed. Fans and critics alike have given Lisa rave reviews for her version of the song, which is sung with infinite sadness and is more ballad-oriented than the original. "I usually have several people come up to me after I perform this song and tell me that I made them cry," Lisa says. "I like it that I can reach peoples' emotions when I sing and I consider it a great compliment."
Compliments have poured in for O'Kane, who has become nothing short of an international sensation since the release of AM I TOO BLUE. Lisa's three previous singles have spent a total of 11 months on the European Independent Country Chart; with "Wall of Tears" breaking a chart record for six consecutive weeks at #1. She has also appeared at this year's MIDEM conference, toured Spain and demand is high for West Coast gigs.
As a joyous O'Kane releases this fourth single via the May Country HotDisc, she is already hammering out new songs for an upcoming CD. She is currently negotiating dates for a tour of Switzerland in June and July. Hit after hit has come from Lisa O'Kane and of "Am I Too Blue" she says, "never."
